Leading the way in the first British White breed classes of the year as judged by Mr Keith Harding, Heather, were two animals from the Tollesbury herd which took home to Essex the prizes for both the Breed Championship and Reserve at South Suffolk Show on Sunday 12th May.
The Clark and Butcher Ltd. Challenge Cup for British White Breed Champion went to the senior bull class winner Tollesbury Pythagoras from Dr V St Joseph, Maldon, also picking up up the Parker Bros. Challenge Trophy awarded to the Champion Male. This two-year-old bull is the product of two more homebred animals, sired by Tollesbury Moonstone (EX92) - now working well at Cotmarsh Farm in Gloucestershire - and out of Tollesbury Pearl (EX90).
Winning the Cresswell Perpetual Challenge Trophy for Female Champion was the 2018-born cow Tollesbury Diamond, also exhibited by the St Joseph family and shown with calf at foot.
Winner of the junior heifer class and receiving the Beachern Trophy for Best Heifer was Alcroft Gloria, bred and exhibited by Miss S Cook, Cambridge. Gloria is sired by the 2022 Bull of the Year Alcroft Gunslinger (VG87) and out of the 2022 Heifer of the Year Alcroft Glory.
