Having missed out on an in-person meeting in 2020, members were glad to be able to gather at the farm of Richard and Fiona Nourse of the Rockley herd near Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, on Saturday 25th September for the Annual General Meeting of the BWCS. The meeting and competition presentations were followed by lunch and a farm walk, which showed the impressive Rockley cattle to full effect on an entirely pasture-based system, incorporating herbal leys, organic principles and enhanced ecological features to enrich the environment for the many species of wildlife on the farm.
Our thanks go to Richard, Fiona and family for providing a wonderful day out for the members, as well as to everyone who was able to come along to celebrate the breed's achievements over the past 12 months. A full article on the farm visit and the report from Herd Competition judge Mr Mick Wright will be published in the forthcoming Breed Journal 2022; competition results and a gallery from the day are available to view below.
