Notice to Members: BWCS Annual General Meeting & Herd Competition

AGM 2020

As it cannot yet be certain what government advice may be by the time the Society usually conducts its AGM in October, a provisional plan has been made to hold an open air meeting where it would be possible to adhere to social distancing guidelines, should these measures still be in place and providing that such events were to be permitted.

For the time being, the plan would be for the event to take place on just one day rather than also having the customary Friday evening meal beforehand, although this could of course be considered again nearer the time depending on what types of gatherings may be acceptable.

The offer of hosting members for this event has kindly been given by Richard and Fiona Nourse of the Rockley herd, with interim details as follows:

Date: Saturday 3rd October 2020

Time: AGM to begin at 11.30am, lunch and herd visit to follow

Location: Tankards Hill, Stretton on Fosse, Morton in Marsh, Gloucestershire GL56 9QY

A final decision will be made in time for the AGM announcement to all members, which should be included as normal with the September newsletter posting (end of August).

UPDATED: HERD COMPETITION 2020

It has been decided that it would be best to postpone the Herd Competition until 2021 due to the need for the judges to be able to safely travel and stay in many places across the country to properly complete their task. Last year's winner and judge for 2020 Mr Mick Wright has emphasised that although he is greatly disappointed not to be visiting competitors this year, he very much looks forward to taking on the judging in 2021.

Members who have already entered this time will have the choice of a refund of their entry fee, or for it to be carried over to next year’s competition.

If you have any questions about either of the above events, please contact the Breed Secretary.
