BWCS Autumn Sales Updates

WELSHPOOL 10TH OCTOBER

Going ahead as planned on Saturday 10th October will be a collective sale of native pedigree breeding cattle, under which British Whites will have their own section in the catalogue. The Society fully intends to support and grow this sale to develop a strong outlet in the West, so please do get involved by putting forward your stock for sale! Entry forms will be available during August and vendors will be allowed in to view their stock being sold, with all vendors/buyers being asked to adhere to strict Covid-19 measures.

MELTON MOWBRAY 11TH - 12TH SEPTEMBER

Grassroots Systems Ltd have announced the cancellation of their yearly multi-species, multi-breed show & sale event, which was to be held by Melton Mowbray Market on 11th & 12th September 2020. It was decided that due to the variation in requirements between all of the species and breeds, it was not yet possible to know what would be allowed under Covid-19 restrictions, or what would be safe for such a large number of buyers and vendors at this type of event. We look forward to joining in with an even bigger and better show & sale in September 2021.

BUYING & SELLING BRITISH WHITES IN 2020

The British White Cattle Society is also fortunate to already have in place a successful private sales platform where all members may advertise their cattle for FREE on the Society website and in our quarterly newsletter, a service which is also able to be boosted to a wider audience by the Society teaming up with online marketplace Sell My Livestock to provide a dedicated portal for British White cattle - click here to learn more.

Potential buyers are also welcome to contact the Society with their specific request, which can be promptly circulated to the membership to source cattle to your own requirements. Just email admin@britishwhitecattle.co.uk or phone the Society office on 01954 232796.

The BWCS Management Committee will also discuss whether there are any other options which could benefit members in trading stock and will be most willing to consider any further suggestions as we move through 2020 and beyond, so please get in touch. The Society exists to serve the membership in promoting their cattle, and are working hard to ensure the continuation of the buoyant trade for British Whites that we have seen in recent years.

Hi Anthony, The BWCS is in touch with the market to see what form that sale could take if it is allowed to go ahead (members will be notified as soon as possible), but if not we will of course continue to help connect buyers and sellers trade cattle privately until we can start our regular events again. In the meantime, members should contact the Society with details of cattle for sale or wanted and we will do our best advertise accordingly! Sarah Cook Breed Secretary
